Your First Dental Office Visit

To provide you with prompt dental treatment, please be sure to bring the following items when you visit our practice for your initial visit:

  • Insurance Information/Card
  • Photo Identification
  • Any medical records pertaining to your dental care visit

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete the necessary paperwork. You may also have your previous office fax your dental records to our office. At regular office visits, we provide multiple services to help our patients maintain their smiles:

Cleanings

Patients should be seen for a dental cleaning and routine exam every six months or as recommended by our dentists. We will thoroughly clean your teeth to remove plaque and calculus. Our team utilizes the EMS Air Flow Cleaning system that uses air, RO water, and glycine crystals to efficiently but gently clean the smile.

Scaling and root planing are options for patients with signs of gingivitis or periodontitis. We remove plaque and calculus on and below the gum line during scaling. Root planing cleans and smooths down the tooth roots.

Digital X-rays

We regularly take dental X-rays to detect problems that the naked eye cannot see. Unlike traditional X-rays, digital X-rays emit less radiation and create a clearer picture for proper diagnosis and treatment. With X-rays, we can view cavities, impacted teeth, tooth decay, and more.

Dental Exams

We screen patients for various dental problems at routine visits, from decay to oral cancer. Patients with tooth decay often experience tooth sensitivity or pain. We will also look for holes or pits in the enamel, called cavities. Common signs of gum disease that we also look for include red inflamed, bleeding, and receding gums.

Oral cancer is another serious dental problem that we look for. Signs of oral cancer often include chronic mouth ulcers or white or red patches. Dr. Benson will also screen for TMD and other bite problems. Please let him know if you suffer from headaches, tooth pain, jaw pain, or bruxism.
